New Tiered Concrete Steps in Broomfield, CO

sidewalk replacement, new sidewalk, concrete sidewalk, broomfield sidewalk, denver concrete company

We installed this new tiered sidewalk with 5 steps in Broomfield, CO.  The concrete sidewalk is 4' wide and the steps are 6" tall to make easy transition from the street to the front door.  The customer wanted a curved walkway for curb appeal and to differentiate their property from the strait sidewalks in the neighborhood.  Although this is not a big concrete project, this is a great example of how you can really change your home's appearance with a good design and layout of concrete.  Broomfield is a great community we've enjoy working in for over 10 years.  For a free concrete estimate in the Denver metro, please give us a call 303-848-8447.

Diffusion Tank Concrete Pads

Above ground these concrete tank pads appear to be a simple thick load bearing concrete pad. The time, labor and engineering that have gone into these 3’ 6” thick pads is quite extensive. Last year we were lucky enough to pour two different diffusion tanks for Safeway and another refrigeration company. While they were both complicated the Safeway project took the cake. Below both sets of pads are shown. The other pad we did has all of the same specs as the Safeway pad but extra excavation, structural fill and shoring were not needed.

What started out to be a simple 1’ 6” thick 10’ x 10’ pad turned into a 3’6” pad needing extra 7’
of excavation and an 18’ x 18’ hole. After a geological report was done, they found the existing subgrade
was too poor to hold a concrete pad and tank. We needed to then cut out 18’ x 18’ of concrete and
excavate 7’ down to put in new structural fill. With the excavation shoring was needed for safety. Once
the tear out and excavation was done, we put the shoring in place. With the shoring in place, we were
then able to haul in engineered approved structural fill. In order to pass the upcoming necessary
compaction test we had to place the fill in lifts. Meaning we would add layer of fill, drop in the walk
behind trench compactor, compact that layer of fill and then do the process all over again until we
reached 4’ thick of fill.

Driveway Replacement and Extension in Arvada CO

arvada driveway replacementWe worked on this driveway replacement project in Arvada, CO and were able to knock it out in just a day.  This driveway in Arvada was very narrow only leaving room for one car and no room to walk around.  The homeowner wanted to have a space to park 2 vehicles side by side.  This meant we would have to remove the old driveway and the grass and landscaping next to it as well.  We ended up pouring a driveway that was 18' wide to provide a space for 2 vehicles and walking space on the concrete.

The Driveway Replacement Process

Our removal team began breaking up the concrete and loading it into a dump truck.  The irrigation system was removed along with the grass, dirt and landscaping material next.

At Denver Concrete Company, we try and focus on limiting environmental impact so we recycle concrete and use recycled concrete road base for our sub-grade.
