Our Littleton Concrete Services we offer

Residential concrete projects are diverse and encompass a wide range of applications, all of which contribute to the construction and improvement of homes and living spaces. Concrete is a preferred material for residential projects due to its durability, versatility, and cost-effectiveness. Let's explore some common types of residential concrete projects:

  1. Driveways: Concrete driveways are a popular choice for homeowners due to their longevity and low maintenance. Concrete can withstand heavy vehicle traffic and harsh weather conditions, making it an excellent material for driveways.

  2. Patios: Concrete patios provide an attractive outdoor space for relaxation and entertainment. They can be customized with various finishes and decorative elements like stamped patterns or colored concrete to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the backyard.

  3. Sidewalks & Pathways: Concrete sidewalks and pathways offer safe and functional routes around the property, connecting various areas like the front entrance, backyard, garden, or poolside.

  4. Garage Floors: Concrete garage floors are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles and various tools or equipment. They are easy to clean and provide a smooth surface for garage-related activities.
  5. Basement Floors: Concrete is commonly used for basement floors due to its durability and resistance to moisture. Properly finished concrete floors can provide an additional living space or storage area.

  6. Retaining Walls: Concrete retaining walls are essential for stabilizing sloped landscapes and preventing erosion. They also add a decorative element to the outdoor environment.

  7. Pool Decks: Concrete pool decks are a popular choice for their slip-resistant properties and ability to withstand pool chemicals and exposure to water.

  8. Stairs and Steps: Concrete stairs and steps are used both indoors and outdoors to connect different levels of the house or create access points around the property.

  9. Decorative Concrete: Decorative concrete is a versatile option that allows homeowners to create unique and eye-catching designs. Techniques like stamping, staining, and engraving can mimic the appearance of other materials like stone or brick.  Stamped concrete patios is by far our most popular concrete service in Littleton, Colorado.  We install new and replace stamped concrete patios for homeowners March thru November 1st.

Concrete Acid Staining

Acid Staining Denver, COWe offer concrete staining for both interior and exterior floors in the Denver metro area as a finishing option for your new concrete project.  Acid staining concrete is gaining popularity in residential and commercial flooring because it is cost effective, durable and requires very little maintenance.

Staining Concrete is great for:

  • Patios
  • Sidewalks
  • Driveways
  • Pool Decks
  • Interior Flooring
  • Garage Floors

How Acid Staining Works

When you acid stain concrete, the first thing you need to do is remove any existing floor coverings and then clean the concrete.  This allows the acid stain to get into the pours and gives it the consistent reaction and coloring effect.  Next the acid stain is applied and needs to dry up to 48 hours before the sealer is applied.  If we are working on an interior floor, we will use a film-forming (epoxy or urethant) sealer and if we are working on an exterior floor we will use an acrylic sealer that actually has granules to give grip to the floor to prevent slip and falls.  Both sealers help prevent future staining of the concrete whether its household spills or pet stains, they will not effect the coloring.  After a years use, we recommend waxing the stained concrete to restore the shine and bring out that rich color of the stain.  When it comes to decorative concrete, staining is the most cost effective way to go on new or well maintained concrete.

Staining existing concrete is a quick and affordable way to get decorative concrete without having to start over with colored concrete.  Staining can transform and old concrete slab to an attractive

Denver Concrete Removal Services

Concrete Removal Denver, COWe offer concrete removal services in the Denver metro for all residential and commercial projects.

If you have a concrete driveway, sidewalk, patio, garage slab, wall or parking area that you would like torn out and removed, give us a call for a estimate (303) 848-8447.  Depending on access and the amount of concrete that needs to be removed, we typically can tear out and remove your concrete in a day.  We can also accommodate the need for a quick appointment, quick estimate and can almost always tear out your job within 72 hours of your call.

Equipment Used for Tear-out:

however, there are some circumstances where we do send a sample to a geotechnical engineer. This is a consideration at time with larger projects.   We also have hand-held breakers and saws for smaller concrete areas.  Whether you need to tear-out a large driveway or a small sidewalk, we have the tools to get the job done quick and right.

Removal Costs:

Our concrete removal costs depend on a few things; total sq ft, thickness, if there is a strengthening product in the concrete like rebar or wire mesh and the access to the slab.  All of these items considered, you can expect to pay between $2.00 - $5.00 a sq foot for a concrete tear-out project.  If we are pouring the concrete along with tear-out services for your project, the price a sq ft will come down.

Tear-out vs Resurfacing:

We get called all the time and asked if we can resurface a concrete slab instead of tearing out and replacing.  There are a few factors to consider when trying to figure out which is best for your situation.  A resurfaced slab that is under 2" thick will crack, chip and deteriorate.  Also if a slab has big cracks (over 1/4" wide) there are structural issues under your concrete that need to be addressed.  Usually more base, regraded and compacted to prevent future issues.  If you are to resurface over these cracks, the ground will continue to shift and the cracks will translate to the resurfaced areas.

If you are okay with adding an additional 2 inches to your existing slab, resurfacing may be a good option for you and removal may not be not necessary.

Tear-out Safety Concerns:

We take all necessary precautions when tearing out a slab of concrete.  Many times we will call 811 and get cable, electrical and water lines marked so we keep our employees safe and do not create a larger problem.  Most jobs do not require having a soil sample taken, however, there are some circumstances where we do send a sample to a geotechnical engineer. This is a consideration at time with larger projects.  When hiring Denver Concrete Company to remove your concrete, you can be sure we'll take the appropriate safety precautions.

6 Things Every Concrete Driveway in Denver Needs

So it is time, time to replace the original driveway or maybe just an install a new concrete driveway. Where do you start? What are the best materials for your new concrete driveway? All questions that will be answered below.

The first thing that most consider when starting a new concrete project is cost, so it is important to address this right away. For a patio, sidewalk/walkway the actual concrete mix is typically 4,000 PSI (pounds per square inch) is used for heavy traffic pavement, or heavy use floor slabs not as much of a concern as with a driveway. This is simply because the driveway is going to get a great deal more use than a traditional patio or walkway would.

Along with getting more use, heavier objects are placed on driveways for long periods of time. So it is very important that you look for high-performance concrete mix. The cost of high-performance concrete mix is definitely a little more expensive per square foot, but looking at the project from the “big picture” perspective, it makes sense to spend a few dollars more for the high-performance concrete mix as it will eliminate a great deal of expenses and crack repairs in the future. It is important to consider only products that will help you pour a durable driveway that is less permeable than a typical mix.

So with that being said, here is what we use on our traditional residential concrete driveways:

  • Concrete mix with compressive strength of at least 4000 PSI
  • Air content of around 6-7%
  • A water/cement ratio below 50% which creates a more durable and stronger product
  • WWM (6"x 6") or Re-bar set at every 2’
  • Road base tamped down to form base of pour (if needed)
  • Fiber Mesh

New Driveway DenverIf you are getting a bid for your concrete driveway from Denver Concrete Company, you can rest assured that all of our concrete driveway estimates include the above. What is most imporant is that as you obtain estimates for your new driveway or replacement driveway, you will want to make certain that any estimate you receive details what all is included in the proposal from that concrete contractor.

It is all too common that we see estimates from our competitors that do not include rebar or perhaps does not include tear out. There is nothing wrong with those estimates, it is just not comprehensive. So it is important that you compare "oranges to oranges" when shopping for a new concrete driveway.

When you request an estimate from Denver Concrete Company, you can rest assured that all the details of the project will be spelled out in the project notes as well as the comprehensive estimate that you will receive. This is exactly why most estimates include an onsite inspection from one of our "field estimators" so that we can give you a very solid estimate from the beginning.

Initially at the beginning inception of Denver Concrete company, we asked our general contractors and residential customers what the biggest problem was in dealing with Denver area concrete contractors. The answer came back the same every time, it was:

  1. Not getting a call back or estimate in a timely manner
  2. Estimates never seem entirely complete, meaning that final project costs seemed to always come in higher than what was originally estimated.

Denver Concrete Company is focused on providing comprehensive and final estimates upfront. This means that Denver Concrete Company will provide a final estimate one time unless the project has too many variables which can happen from time to time. In those rare cases, an initial estimate is given with the disclaimer that the final project cost can possibly increase depending on variables inside that project. This is oftentimes due to weather (i.e. winter conditions) and other uncontrollable aspects of the job.
